The GOLD Fund

Total to date: $120.00

Raised in Nov. 2009: $120.00       Target for Nov&Dec 2009: $500.00

A vibrant and conscientious opposition to incumbent political parties affords us opportunities in efficient and value-governance. It helps to facilitate a more plural dispensation and assures consideration of minority rights.

Governments have a tendency toward the occult and in multi-ethnic societies such occult tendencies find ready nourishment among tribes and clans, aiding and abetting the occult juggernaut. A dynamic opposition polity serves as a stop-gap mechanism to check the malignant extremities and delinquencies of incumbent parties.

In countries such as The Gambia, Senegal, and Guinea Bissau, the opposition parties are threatened extra-judicially in an attempt to stifle their challenge to incumbent parties. Opposition party members are intimidated, wantonly arrested, and funds extorted from their meagre treasuries thereby asphyxiating the inherent dynamism they offer.

The GOLD Fund therefore has as its aims:

1. To support the growth and development of plural opposition and incumbent parties.

2. To support efforts of opposition parties to challenge extra-constitutional extremities of incumbent political parties.

3. To assist in the defense of opposition party members and officials against criminal and malignant incumbent-state constitutional aversions that are aimed at restricting Freedoms of speech, movement, association, and assembly.

4. To help foster greater cooperation between opposition political parties and to encourage information sharing among them.

5. To help coordinate official exchanges and pooled assistance among opposition political parties in order to encourage actionable synergy among them.

 The JOHM Fund

The JOHM fund will begin The GDP’s capital campaign to:

1. Afford students from our ROPs the opportunity to receive training and education in Opthalmology and the opthalmic sciences. We will develop partnership with ROP institutions with a comprehensive syllabus and ware in the area of sight. We will match prospective scholarship recipients with these institutions and nurture their experiences.

2. To make opthalmic surgeries accessible and affordable for the most patients of the Nyakoi Vision Institute.

3. To supplement resources for corrective lenses and eyeglasses for The GDP’s SightSeed program.

The JOHM fund is the funding arm of Savanna Academy’s Nyakoi Vision Institute and the desire and promise of scholarship-recipients to serve our ROPs during and at the conclusion of their training and study will be a critical consideration in awarding scholarship and training funds.

We encourage our friends, partners, and sponsors to support the JOHM fund. We encourage you to send any support to:

FATOU JAW MANNEH FUND

Monday, March 2nd, 2009.

Friends,

I am pleased to inform you that I had the opportunity to meet Fatou while in transit in Georgia and that she looked and was feeling excellent. She expresses her appreciation and delight at the enormity of goodwill you have afforded her in her hour of need and is forever grateful that there are persons such as yourselves who will come to the rescue of total strangers. I share with you Fatou’s appreciation:

Thanks to The Global Democracy Project for the funds you raised towards my freedom. You saved my life and I thank all the donors for  their concern, generosity and prompt response to the plea. I hope we will all join hands and make the The GDP a valuable and lasting community that will cater to the improvement and well–being of all peoples, be it in health, education or sustainable development around the world. I also encourage my fellow Africans to join hands and make The Global Democracy Project a success story for generations to come. I thank you all again.

Fatou Jaw manneh.
